Déja VAULT? No, you were not having a flashback when Andrew Steben appeared to re-appear, seemingly stepping out of the 1960s back into 2006 California high school pole vault competition. Andy Steben, his dad, vaulted for the track powerhouse, Occidental College, where St. Francis High School student and CIF Southern Section, Division III Champion Andrew has trained for the vault recently.
North American Pole Vault Association Hall of Fame honoree John Pennel launches himself skyward. Pennel held and raised the world record in the pole vault 10 times between 1963 and 1969.
