As I write this, On Track is poised for yet another great “field and track” season—and I can’t wait! Why am I so enthusiastic? While much news of late appears gloomy, here in our little corner of the world, we have a lot for which to be thankful.

One reason I am so “up” is because On Track has moved to a larger, more professional location near Burbank, California’s historic Bob Hope Airport, once the Lockheed Corporation’s airfield, host to legendary pilots Wiley Post, Amelia Earhart and many other airborne celebrities. When you are in the neighborhood, please feel free to drop in! (You’ll find directions at ontrackandfield.com.) If you’d ever visited our previous location, I think you will agree—we were literally bursting at the seams. Now we have plenty of space for our inventory, and much more parking for our local customers. There is nothing like a positive change in surroundings to renew your spirits!

So, what else is new? How about a new line of sturdy Field Canopies, offered in a variety of sizes and school colors (page 30)? As pole vault specialists, we’re especially excited about the new SafetyMax Vault Box Insert (page 43), a protective appliance we feel will help significantly reduce pole vault injuries. Like to throw things? Why not try the next generation of Lexcalibur’s Chain Training Hammer (page 12)? If time is of the essence, check out the new Ultrak 498 Printer Watch System and Ultrak’s new Solar–Powered 350 Stopwatch (page 16). I’d be less than honest if I didn’t recognize that the business climate will be challenging in the year ahead, but that said, it has become apparent that our loyal customer base has allowed us to weather difficult times far better than other businesses.
